When I worked at ASI, I was the iBO instructor. I saw so many people attend the iBO class, and it was so confusing to use iBO, that most just didn't even want to use it. They would rather trace the SQL and reverse engineer their own stored procedures. That is why I created this wrapper. It greatly cuts down on the code required to do anything with iBO. And it has code to prevent errors from lots of know issues, such as 2 people saving a registration at the same time.

iBO Wrapper - works on all version 10.2 to 10.6. No need to update when upgrading within this range or installing a patch.

Installation

Extract the iBOwrapper.dll into the same folder as all the other iBO dll’s and register it.

1. Open up the DOS command prompt and navigate to the iBO folder.
2. Perform the following: Regsvr32 ibowrapperlatebinding.dll

To deploy a revision to the iBO wrapper dll:

1. Stop IIS and ColdFusion services
2. Open up the DOS command prompt and navigate to the iBO folder.
3. Perform the following commands: Regsvr32 iboWrapper.dll /u
4. Delete the ibowrapper.dll and empty trash. Copy the new ibowrapper.dll to the iBO folder
5. Perform the following commands: Regsvr32 ibowrapper.dll
6. Restart IIS and ColdFusion services

Documentation on how the iBO Wrapper works

The documentation is rather terse. The reason being is that I would teach clients and resellers how to use the wrapper as part of the iBO training while I was working at ASI. In a nutshell, the iBOWrapperTemplate.cfm has all of the functionality that the wrapper simplifies, and instead of writing code, you can simply delete the code that you don't need. How's that for a concept of simplicity. The code is commented out by default, so an alternative is to keep the code in there and just un-comment what you want to use.

The fastest way to get up to speed on how to use the wrapper is to contact Stephen Moseley for a Webex training session.

Common examples in HTML/ColdFusion. The HTML page is the simple data entry, and the ColdFusion page has the iBO wrapper code to implement.

For example, here is the code for ordering a book. If you had to do this with iBO code directly, it would be pages of code to get right and does not have protection against scalability issues.

Source code for the iBO Wrapper. The release version uses late binding source code. The difference with the late binding is that there are no references to the dll's. These are version specific, so you would need a new version of the wrapper for every version of iMIS and every patch. The down side is that by using the CreateObject() procedure you lose the intillisense that is built into Visual Studio.
